During this year’s Almedalen Week, Viscaria hosted the seminar “World-Class Mining Industry, Local Community Development, Responsibility and European Self-Sufficiency” – a discussion on how modern mining operations can contribute to both local and global objectives.
Over an intensive hour, experts and decision-makers gathered to explore three key questions:
-
How do we build strong and vibrant local communities around mining operations?
-
What requirements and opportunities come with a responsible and sustainable mining industry?
-
How can Swedish copper production strengthen the EU’s strategic raw material supply and competitiveness?
The seminar clearly demonstrated that the future of mining is not only about technology and raw materials – but about collaboration, long-term thinking and societal benefit. The discussions reflected the entire value chain: from municipal perspectives and national coordination to the EU’s geopolitical priorities.
With all permits now in place, Viscaria’s vision of a world-class copper mine in Kiruna is ready to become reality. We are now taking a historic step towards strengthening Europe’s self-sufficiency in critical metals – with local engagement, high environmental ambitions and technical excellence.
