Many Kiruna residents use the trail to Ädnamvaara, and we would therefore like to inform you that the existing trail passing through Viscaria’s area is now closed for the summer season.
The closure is part of our site security measures and aims to ensure that the public does not enter the area classified as an active industrial site. This is important for maintaining the safety of both visitors and our operations.
As soon as snow conditions allow, a new snowmobile trail will be opened. Viscaria will be responsible for maintaining and keeping the new route in good condition. In spring, a new ski and summer trail is also planned, allowing residents and visitors to continue enjoying the area in a safe and secure way.
The development of new trails is part of our responsibility for the area – and to ensure that outdoor recreation and mining can coexist in balance.
To the right, you can see maps showing the proposed new trail routes. These proposals are currently awaiting approval from Kiruna Municipality and the County Administrative Board of Norrbotten before work can begin.
