Lars-Eric Aaro appointed to Viscaria’s Board of Directors

With his background as CEO of LKAB, Mine Manager of Boliden’s Aitik mine – one of Europe’s largest copper mines – and as Mine Manager at Viscaria back in the 1980s, Lars-Eric Aaro now strengthens Viscaria’s board during an important phase of expansion.

At the Annual General Meeting in May, Lars-Eric Aaro was elected to Viscaria’s Board of Directors. He began his career as Mine Manager at Viscaria in the 1980s and has since held a number of senior positions, including as Mine Manager at Boliden’s Aitik mine – one of Europe’s largest copper mines – and as CEO of LKAB. With his extensive experience and wide network in the Swedish and international mining industry, he is now reinforcing Viscaria’s board during an expansive stage of development.

“It feels great to be back where it all started. When I was here last time, the figure stood at three million tonnes of confirmed Mineral Resources. Today, we’ve reached 52, then 72, 93 and now 108 million tonnes – with a target of 140-160 million tonnes within a three to five year period. And on top of that, copper grades that are 60% above the global average for active copper mines. To witness that transformation, from closure to such a rich deposit, is truly a remarkable journey,” says Lars-Eric Aaro.
