Viscaria’s Nomination Committee has announced its intention to propose Lars-Eric Aaro as a new member of the company’s Board of Directors at the 2025 Annual General Meeting.
Lars-Eric Aaro has a long and distinguished career in the mining industry, having served as President and CEO of LKAB between 2009 and 2015. He has also held senior positions at Boliden, Outokumpu, Secoroc (now Epiroc), Mobilaris, AFRY, and AssiDomän. Notably, he was also Viscaria’s mine manager between 1984 and 1988 – making his return particularly meaningful.
“Having Lars-Eric Aaro accept a seat on our board is a significant step for Viscaria. His deep expertise in mining operations and international business strategy, as well as his extensive network within the global mining industry, will be invaluable as we continue to grow,” says Jörgen Olsson, CEO of Viscaria.
Thomas von Koch, Chair of the Nomination Committee, adds: “We are very pleased to propose Lars-Eric Aaro as a new board member. His knowledge and experience will be a strong asset to the company.”
Lars-Eric Aaro himself is looking forward to contributing to Viscaria’s development: “Viscaria is a highly interesting project with the potential to play a key role in the future of sustainable mining. As the green transition advances, the global demand for copper is increasing, and Viscaria is well-positioned to help Sweden and Europe become more self-sufficient and strengthen their role in the shift towards more sustainable production.”
Lars-Eric Aaro currently serves on the boards of Rana Gruber A/S, NYAB, and WIBAX, and is Chair of Mobilaris AB, Blastr Green Steel A/S, Predge AB, and Luleå Näringsliv. He holds an honorary doctorate from Luleå University of Technology and is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA).
The Nomination Committee has previously also announced its intention to propose Mark Johnson as a new board member.
